Hello, I'm Russ M Kuchman, a creative professional based in New York City.
From a young age, storytelling through visual media has been my passion. One of my earliest memories is creating a series of drawings to illustrate humorous stories from my childhood imagination. Little did I know at the time, I was crafting storyboards without even being aware of it—a skill that would later become my career.
Since 1999, I’ve had the privilege of working across a wide spectrum of creative roles and industries. My journey has taken me from training creative professionals in continued education to developing e-learning videos for hospital nurses, and from designing websites for startups to crafting corporate presentations for multinational organizations. Whether working in web, mobile, animation, or video, these experiences have allowed me to test my abilities, refine my problem-solving skills, and ultimately discover my true passion: the art of moving images.
But beyond the technical skills, my greatest fortune has been the opportunity to collaborate with incredible, talented individuals who have influenced and inspired my growth. Their contributions have shaped who I am today.
Since 2016, I’ve been a full-time Multimedia Designer at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Talent Development Group, where I specialize in motion design, animation, and 3D. In 2018, my work on the Talent Development Learning Solutions promotion, "Transforming Performance: One Client at a Time," earned me a GDUSA award for excellence in animation and motion design. I also contributed to the award-winning "Individuals with Substance Use Disorders" awareness course, which received the 2018 GDUSA Health + Wellness Award.
When I'm not animating pixels, I'm orchestrating melodies as a hobbyist MIDI composer. I love dabbling across genres — one day it's electronic, the next it's a cinematic score. Some of my musical experiments have even sneaked into my recent projects, adding a unique beat to my visuals. Curious to hear what happens when art meets sound? Tune into my YouTube channel and let your ears be the judge: youtube.com/@RMKMusicLab.
While I’m deeply committed to my full-time role, I’m always open to exciting freelance opportunities that challenge my creativity—whether it’s an innovative motion design project or a stimulating collaboration.
